I've got a 6.9 2wd at the moment. Most useless road tires in the back to boot. I get stuck in 2" of mud. All it took the 2nd last time was a 60 year old guy giving me a push by hand.

lol I'm good as long as I can keep driving, it's when I have to stop when I get screwed. Would be nice if the rear end had limited slip or something but all I can do is spin my one lonely wheel.

This isn't the tire it's got in the back, but what I have is slightly wussier than this even!!

think thats bad? I got stuck on some wet grass...had one wheel on gravel and the other on grass.....when all was said and done, the side in the grass was sunk up to the bottom of the rim and she wasnt moving........ a little tug from a ford escape and away she goes....turned into about an hour long ordeal....course I did have pretty bald uniroyals at the time lol

I bought this 2wd from the original owner about a month ago. Its all original paint and interior, 86K miles, run nice, pulls my toys quite well. Those are 285s and the suspension is stock.

I have a 1987 F250 with a 6.9 and everything but the tach works. Issues? Sure it's 23 years old and things wear out. Still I wouldn't trade it for the newer p'strokes. Parts prices alone are outa sight on the newer trucks not to mention some of the newer ones have to have the frontend or cab removed to work on the engine.

Dang i've got to get a camera, to show ya'll what a real work truck looks like. The 88 had next to zero paint left (its been long sold now) and my current truck (the 92 F350) hasn't rolled a mile since 96, so its stuck at 220,000 on the clock so who knows how many miles are actually on her, but anyway back to my point lol, I've got half of a barrel for a passenger side dually fender, the tu-tone blue on blue paint scheme is faded badly, and all of the lights on the top have been replaced with small marker lights presumably off of a trailer.

Back to the OP, I've had 2 7.3 2wd's, the 88 sucked really bad in the mud, and the 92 ain't much better but she ain't nearly as squarly (single cab vs crew cab)

work trucks are good. lets see some pics of that beast! dont tell me there are zip ties on the half-barrel, because aside from duct tape, thats as "work truck" as it gets .

No, no zip ties they'd never last. The PO just used self taping screws to mount the barrel. I plan on ditching it for a BBQ pit sometime in the future.

It's an 85 F350 Long Wheelbase cab and chassis, 6.9, 2wd, 4 speed.
With the dual wheels, I relate to the others on traction issues...and yes I have also been stuck on wet grass on a slight hill...VERY embarassing!
The diesel engine puts out so much torque that even trying to let the clutch out in 3rd gear to bog down the motor, it still spins the tires!
Yes, the front end on a 2wd always hangs low. I love the look, looks ready to take off! Besides, once some weight gets on the back, it levels out some.

I always carry at least 700lbs in the back for traction. 400lbs is directly over the axle. I might increase it in the winter to stop me sliding around.
