1955 pickup transmission changeover

I am trying to install a 3spd overdrive out of a 55 ford car in my 55 f100. I have a light duty 3spd and wonder if the input shaft is interchangable with the overdrive? I now have bellhousing motor mounts so can I add a tranny mount for the overdrive or will this not work? Thanks, Tom

Hey Tom, Welcome to the site! I put a 3 speed overdrive in my '55. Been driving and loving it for the last 3 weeks! Mine has a tin top cover and the OD unit is a Borg Warner R10. I think that is the same one you have. It works fine. You'll have to fab up a pivot mount for the clutch linkage. I made mine from 1 1/2" angle iron. I'll see if I can find some pictures and post them.
