ignit lock cylinder will not stay in ignition, what gives?
I got my 77 just a month ago with no lock cylinder in the ignition. I've been using a screw driver to start it.
OK, well I found the lock cylinder for the ignition with the keys lying loose in a bucket of parts that came with the truck. I go through the correct procedure to install the lock cylinder and can get it to slide in easily.
I turn the key back clockwise, but the lock cylinder just falls back out of the ignitions switch. I "suspect" the lock cylinder may be new, but the ignition switch in the dash is quite obviously the original unit.
So what gives? Am I doing this wrong, or is something broken as I suspect? What causes the lock cylinder to stay in the ignition? Should I replace the key cylinder or the ignit switch in the dash?
