New To Ford And Forum

Greetings;

I just bought my first Ford vehicle ever! A 2001 Expedetion XLT, 5.4L V-8 with 48k miles. The ride is smooth and the gas milage well, it's worth it for paying high gas price now days.

I just have several questions:

Whats the best oil brand for it?

Whats the best Air filter and Fuel Filter?

Also Spark Plugs, what brand?

I want to make sure my first Ford Expy gets the best treatment. I was shopping around for a Chevy Tahoe or Yukon, but the price is market too high! I got a great deal on my Expy and I couldn't pass up the great offer.

Also my first time on this forum and looking forward to learn from everyone else good/bad exp. they had with ther Expy.....

Hey Rootz408, welcome aboard.

I love my Expy, 2000 4x4 XLT with 72K miles.

Favorite brands of oil can be very subjective. I think the best answer is any "major" brand will be quite sufficient and will meet or beat manufacturer specs. I personally like Valvoline and Castrol.

Wix makes good filters.

With only 48K miles you shouldn't have to worry about plugs for another 40-40K miles, but when the time comes, you should stick to the stock Motorcraft Plats that the truck came with.

Also, the spark plugs aren't very easy to remove. Check the forum for info on plug removal procedures for 5.4 engines.

Thanks Buzzard and Paul for the info, I noticed a lot of people in here perfer Penzoil for oil. As for the spark plugs I'll make sure it's the stock ones when it's time to have them change.

This forum is really helpful, learned a lot by reading everyones post....

Thanks,
Rootz408
