Went 50 once in the 29 AA. Downhill of course, and it has the rare high geared version of the worm drive rear axle. Yes, 40 is good and it's also ok to keep your mechanical brakes. I drove that 38 tonner for 11 years with them. Electric trailer brakes for sure....
Was this truck up on I-43, up around Sheboygan? If so, how long ago was that? I was told about an old F-7 being used as an oil collection barrel a few years back but haven't been able to find it the couple of times I was up in the area.
Yes it's off of 43 I don't know the exit number but it was for the town of Belgum(sp)I could try to find out for you if you need me to.

Hey Jim,
So... What's the big wood thing you got back there?
That looks heavy.. I love the stance of your truck & yes I like to see them doing manual labor.

Heah Ben, that is the floor of a 12'x12' storage shed . When I sold My house to take care of My parents a few years back, I used the F-1 to move the whole house. Its still a great workhorse.
When i started with the phone co in1970 we still had a few of those (what we called, line trucks) in service. but most of the fleet was econolines, no heat no defrost, no radio , all plane janes. I loved the econoline, and bought a 66 for myself that i drove for slong time.
