My 87 f250 keeps chewing the teeth off starters

My truck has went through 7 starters in the last month. The teeth on the starters just keep getting shaved off.

How's the flywheel teeth? If they are shot the starter won't stand a chance. You're getting the correct starter? Manual and automatic are slightly different as is the shim plate between the engine and transmission different for manuals and autos.
