You should wait to see it get unveiled on Monday. See it at Ford Explorer | Facebook. You will be amazed.

I think the 2011 Explorers will have reduced towing capacity; if that matters to you, get a 2010.

do you know how much of a reduction in towing capacity?

is this because of a smaller displacement engine? what are the largest going to be available?

Cheers!

I think the towing capacity is reduced due to unibody rather than body-on-frame construction.

I'd buy a 2010 for shure, the 2011 is FWD. What a shame no more Explorers for me or my family, don't have a need for a FWD vehicle.

I understand the 2011 is going to be on a AUTO frame, not the TRUCK frame as has been. Sits lower to the ground, not what I would want in a SUV.

The avalable engines are the 3.5l V6 and 2.0l Ecoboost I4 as per Fords site. 2011 Ford Explorer | View Full Engine Specifications | FordVehicles.com

I'd say its probably more due to the FWD and less hefty crossover type drivetrain. Although I'm a fan of full frames, Unis can be made pretty strong.

This 2011 is disappointing. It doesn't even have two-tone paint trim. Now it has plastic trim. No more Explorers for me I guess.
