Door seal mod on rear

Door seal mod on rear
I have done the door seal mod on the four doors and barn doors. I was finally going to do the rear opening. The seals will not come off like the others did. After really pulling, I got one corner to start letting loose and it seems there is adhesive attached to the back. The seals are pretty beat up, so I'd like to "freshen" it up, but don't want to ruin the seals. Has any of you done the rear opening, and if so, was there adhesive on it and how did it go back on and stay on? Thanks in advance.

Funny, in a previous post I blamed the previous owner for this, but I guess it is factory.
I was able to get all the doors and the small sections of the barn doors, but not the big hatch opening because of the adhesive.
That adhesive is very tacky and is going to be a royal pain in the backside to remove and get put back on properly.
I pried a small section loose and it won't go back on very well so I assume it is going to take a new seal and new adhesive.
Which is why I haven't done it yet.

I did the weatherstripping on the bottom portion of the barn door. The stripping is attached to the body of the car. I didn't remove it, just simply inserted tubing through a ripped section and used soap water.
I also did the rubber stripping on top of the barn doors as well for the hatch. There is already a hole at the end where I was able to insert a tubing through.
All those tightened it up really good. Didn't have to go all the way around the whole back side.

I did the rear seals. The adhesive on mine released when pulled firmly, and was tacky enough to reinstall the seal without issue. There should be no reason that it wont go back on. I simply push it on a small amount, then pound it with a fist lightly to fully seat the weatherstrip: however pounding is optional and anyone should be able to simply push it on.
soapy water did not cut it, so I used fluid film lubricant sprayed inside each air hole. I then pushed in two separate lubricated vaccum lines, one from each end with the weatherstrip still attached to just the top of the excursion body, and the bottom/sides pulled off and straightened out. The ends of the vaccum line met in the middle of the weatherstrip at the top. I now have vaccum line inside every inch of the rear doors and hatch weatherstrip.

I used a 3/8 inch outer diameter hose that I got from an online scuba supply store. Not sure what the sidewall thickness is. Here's a link: 50 ft Roll 3/8 Surgical Tubing
You can also get it at Lowes or Home Depot but they are a bit more expensive. Good luck with it. I've done this on three previous Fords and the results are excellent to restore the solidness and quietness of the doors.

big careful - not ALL tuning will give good results....
if too 'thick' or just 'plastic' it will harden and make it worse....
you want a pliable surgical tubing like above....
fyi, I didn't take my seals off either, made a notch in the leading end so I could tape around it to a rounded point, lot's of water, soap and pushing around the corners !
