I finally got my Prop Valve. This one is a lot bigger then the stock one. Do any of you have photos or ideas of where to put the new one. There are 2 inlets and 3 outlets and one of the outlets is on the bottom of the valve so I can't mount it on the frame like it was before.
The original's mount on the backside of the crossmember, drivers side, and is spaced off the frame about an inch or so.
There was no 'Brake Differential Proportioning Valve' prior to 1967. Proportioning valves were introduced in 1967 in conjunction with dual master cylinders.
No F Series truck proportioning valve...that I'm aware of, was ever mounted on any crossmember.
1967/79: There were three mounting locations, depending on the application.
1) Below the master cylinder, "floating" above the steering gearbox.
2) On the left (drivers) side outer frame rail, inboard of the left front wheel.
3) On the left (drivers) side outer frame rail, inboard of the left front wheel...but further towards the rear...adjacent to the steering gearbox.
I did NOT state what year!....If i had said 65-66 then you can use the little The 79 and the 72 i had, had them mounted in this location...i saw it with my own 2 eyes. back side of the crossmember, drivers side.
OldHarley. is that 66 f100 red? because i have a 66 f250 camper special DSO and the paint looks to be roughly the same color. white on top and copper on bottom? im just curious no biggie
none of those seem to look like mine. mine has non standard colors i beleive. i was just thinking maybe yours was the same. because i have seen the same color combo on a 67 pickup but i dont know if thats a standard color or another special color. thanks for posting back i appreciate it.

Bill, since this is the 1961/66 forum, when you say original, what would someone who was notaware of when prop valves were first introduced, think that meant?
Back side of which crossmember-drivers side?
These trucks have "ladder frames." One right & one left frame rail and...at least 6 crossmembers.
