Smile 2006 lexington rv w/v10

I am interested in some comments on the v10's ability to handle this motor home comfortably, and if I can expect mileage in the 8mpg range. It's about 15,000 pounds.
Thanks
Kenny

Depends on what the V10 is sitting in.
Is it an F-350?

Is it a Fifth Wheel or bumper pull?

It's a MOTOR HOME.

To the OP, don't know the answer as I own neither a V10 nor a motor-home. I do know that it a popular engine choice in gas-powered MH's. Should do just fine, you just won't win any races with it. I would say 6-8 mpg would be reasonable. Maybe a little better on the flats, little less in the hilly areas. And there are things you can do to tweak it. Headers, tuner from 5-star. Should make it more responsive, improve tranny shifting.

Everybody's definition of "comfortable" is different...
My truck and bumper pull trailer weighed in at just under 18K on our last trip. We had no problem keeping up with any traffic, and could comfortably do 55 over Siskiyou Summit on I-5. Able to do Donner on I-80 at over 50 with similar load. We pass at least 30 rigs for every one that passes us... I consider it very comfortable and would not hesitate to pull another couple tons.
This is with mildly modified 2V PI. If this RV is a Class A, it would be 3V and have even more power.

My rig normally gets between 7 and 9 while cruising at 55-60. A motor home should be more aerodynamic and have less rolling resistance, so I would expect 8 to 10 if you drive like we do. MPG is extremely speed related. I can get it down to 5 if I push it up to 70...

I'm thinking you meant to say E-450? As in a class C RV?

The E-450 is the van cab and would have the 2V engine.
The F-450 would be pickup cab and would have the 3V.

You are absolutely correct, it is an e-450 in a Forest River Lexington RV.
Thanks for straightening me out on that one. I didn't get an Owners Manual with the rig, and am hoping to get some input from other owners of similar RV's with the v10.
Thanks
