You can simply get a rare earth magnet--small and very strong. Just stick or glue it to your existing cover and it will do just fine collecting all the small iron particles that accumulate in your diff. oil.

You can just get the Ford OEM aluminum cover. No drain plug, and no magnet. Neither of which are needed.

Will cost you about $60.

do you have a part number for the aluminum cover?

Do they have them for the front and rear?

I heard something about the 08+ diff covers fitting our trucks and they have fins etc. Can someone confirm?

Thanks

Part no. for the rear is 8C3Z4033A. That's for single rear wheel Ford 10.5" diffs. They do not have an aluminum for the front.

Not sure what you are asking, but that part number is an '08+ cover. They started using them on the diesel equipped trucks in '08, and they are backward compatible with your diff.

Here is a thread I started when I installed mine.

ok, ok, that clears it up. Thanks, sorry about the confusion.. VERY nice write up and the pics were great. Its too bad they dont make a matching one for the front. Do the 08+ trucks have the same covers as our trucks?

No problem at all. It's a fun, easy, and reasonably priced mod.
