Yo dude. In California we've got what's called The Grapevine.

OK I'll grant you that. It needs a few more gallons in the tank. 280 miles is no great woop. 320 to 400 is. But climbing isn't one of Transits problems. Top heavy in the wind might be. Don't know yet but I'm betting it will be. Big time. Still, well worth any trade offs since it rides and climbs like a Ford and not a puzzy Toyota or Nissan.

Fuel tank size IS one of my beefs. I'm running 300 or just over on a tank. My Tuesday trip is 468 to 525 miles. That means I fill up when I leave home and then again on the way back. My E250 would run the 468 on a tank, 35 Gallons getting 15 mpg. Well of course the TC gets better mileage but it would be great to do a 500 mile trip without refueling.
As far as speed, 5 mph over the PSL is where I try and stay. I stay at 65-75 mph but it does run up on me occasionally running with traffic.

gentelmen, how can you compare Sprinter and Transit connect.

Mid size Van and LCV.

Full size transit is like a Sprinter.

Transit is like enlarged aerostar, but not so good interior (IHMO), a bot more noisy (EU transit shares diesel engines with EU Ranger).

well, about Sprinter in the USA, they offer Sprinter with SSG (Springshift tranny), but they say this is auto, but this is manual tranny with electrinically controlled clutch and hydraulic shift unit....

There are no Transit vans with auto now offered in Ukraine. 5 years ago we had these vans with A4LD with turbo pressure modulator instead of vac. mod, later we can see transit vans with 5 ore 6 st tranny. No auto!

New owner update:
Well, 20K miles on it, still 25mpg. Parking sensors malfunctioning occasionally, darn windows fog up if the HVAC is set to anything other than full defrost. That center-most door section that divides the rear door glass is awful, completely blocks the view of vehicles directly behind you. Can't lock the vehicle with the extra remote if it's running so it sits in the driveway warming up in the mornings just waiting for a car thief........

I'm not winning this contest. 1,837 miles. With the temps this last 10 days or so, nothing but full blast on the heater fan, after it warms up! Guess I'll eventually hang something on the wire safety divider. Mileage easily beats the old Aerostar....looking at the poor old thing sitting in the driveway covered in snow breaks my heart.

Just over 4000 miles on mine. Getting between 19-22 mpg. I did have it in the shop for over a week to diagnose the transmission hunting and searching. It was the after-market cruise that was installed. Ford says the PCM isn't compatible with aftermarket cruise.

33K in 17 months

Absolutely love it, 99% highway miles,
Few minor problems: a non working accessory
socket, and a misaligned rear door latch that
I fixed.
Great handling, adequate power, 24-26 MPG.
Yes it's the VW van of the 21st century.
I cash for clunkered an Isuzu Trooper.

We have 4702 on ours. Gave it an oil change with Synthetic, and took it to Knoxville. Got approximate 27 mpg highway only. Ours is stripped. Manual windows, no cruise, no power-anything. Runs great

Transit connect diesel?

I have a 07 Ranger with a shell I work out of. I would like to get the TC but the mileage isn't enough for me to change. I get close to 25MPG on the road and 20+ in the city with the 2.3 motor. I'll get in line when the diesel hits our shores. If it won't get 30+ mpg , I'll be driving this ranger for a long time. COME ON FORD, GIVE US THE DIESEL !!!!!
