is it a 428 or a 429? two totally different engine families with no part interchange at all.

the 428 is a FE based engine (same as the 352, 390, 427 engines) while the 429 is from the 385 series (370,429,460).

the heads from a 428 will not bolt onto a 370. the 428 will not bolt into place of the 370 either as the motor mounts and bellhousing bolt pattern are totally different. you would have to fab new motor mounts and find a proper transmission to bolt to the 428.

i would sell the 428 as they are semi sought after motor for the FE crowd as they were only offered for a few years and formed the basis for the 428 cobra jet engine (of course with many mods and upgrades to the basic engine).
