Oil Change Update + ?? on Fuel Filter Change

Oil Change Update:

Last post, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/960472-oil-change-issue-update.html<O></O>
<O></O>
Update: Changed oil a few days ago after 4600 miles, had 17 quarts drain out, less than last oil change. Still making oil, so getting use to it.<O></O>

Fuel Filter Change??<O></O>
<O></O>
Also changed out the fuel filters. Question is relative to how much fuel drains out before you can change the rail filter.<O></O>

The process I use is to drain diesel out from the rail filter chamber by opening the water drain. Recent change, I drained at least 3 gals out. Gave up draining because it wouldn't stop. Removed cap on the rail filter chamber, got a diesel bath, changed filter and recapped. Took a shower and I still stunk!!! <O></O>
<O></O>
How much diesel drains out when you guys change out the fuel filters? What are you doing to minimize the amount of diesel that drains out?<O></O>
<O></O>
Wondering if next time I should pull out the fuel pump fuse to prevent the pump from pumping diesel into the fuel line????<O></O>
<O></O>
What do you guys think??<O></O>

not that much, try running the tank near empty and remove the gas cap before attempting the rail filter.

fuel filter

When I change my filter on the rail I use a thirty two ounce drink cup to catch the fuel that drains. It usually ends up about two thirds full.

You can also park the truck with the front on an incline. That will also help take off some of the press.

I changed mine two weeks ago. I first pulled the cap on the engine filter, then drained the other. I used a 28 oz water bottle, and a couple of oz more. When I pulled the cap on that filter I had drips on the frame rail that I wiped up with a rag. I really didn't get that much from the dripping. All this with 3/4 tank, level ground. Was a PIA with the wires but not bad overall. I have an '09.
