I have this 98 Expedition 4x4 with a 4.6 and was wondering how do I find out what transmission do I have, I have heard of two being used and just wanted to know which one I may have for future ording and stuff.Thanks for any help.

 

There is a vin decoder on on of the forums. I think the Superduty forum has one, it tells you which letter in your vin# to look for and it tells you what motor, color, etc...... I think it tells you which tranny too. Hope this helps.

 

1. Prior to 2003, with the 4.6L V-8, 4R70W transmission.

2. Prior to 2003, with the 5.4L v-8, 4R100 transmission.
