looking for book explaining all sensors used

I am looking for a publication or FAQ that would explain in detail the specific use of all sensors in an engine, specific for a 1988 460. would like to know how to test and how they interact. If anyone knows where this information can be found please let me know. No the books you get at your local autoparts store are not good enough, they have some info but not nearly enough, thanks

I just ordered that book, but someone told me it does not cover the 460.

All the sensors on the EEC IV 460 are the same as the other ford engines, they may just have different values. I too have this book and find it a very valuable source off information. Eric

As MERC460 said, there is enough information in the book to give you an understanding what he sensors do. That book is what I used to figure out why my truck was getting such poor mileage. The ECT and ACT sensors are both tapped into the intake manifold...one is located right next to the distributor and the other is a few inches further back (behind the distributer). The ECT is more apt to give false readings since it sits in the engine coolant and will collect a varnish or coating on the sensor over a period of time. Deen
