I kinda wish that Ford would twin turbo the 5.0 or better the 6.2 in whole "Thrust of a V10 Thirst of a V6" kinda deal.

Just saying.

I highly doubt the EB will have 410.

I believe that the ecoboost will have more hp and torque than the 5.0. If it didn't then it would really be a hard sell to convince consumers to buy a small 6 cylinder. I think selling points will be more hp and torque, a flatter torque curve more like a diesel, and better fuel economy. A report from Farm Industry News last September quoted Alan Hall (Ford's Ecoboost Marketing Manager) as saying that the torque should be over 400 ft lbs.

Back in the good old days the 300 cubic inch straight six had a good reputation but it will take awhile to build one for the ecoboost. And in those times the six only had two cubic inches less displacement than the 302 V-8 so it didn't sound like you were losing much to get the six cylinder

I am interested in one but am a little concerned about the high temperature operation, and complexity of the engine - meaning that it's getting harder and harder for me to fix my own stuff anymore.

The numbers batted around so far are "around" 400hp/400lb-ft. for the 3.5 EB in the F150.

The 2011 SHO Taurus has a very similar 3.5L EB in it, and it's turning 365/350, compared to the NA motor at 263/249. So they're picking up about 100hp/100lb-ft with 12PSI of boost. They are also claiming the EB will make 350ft-lbs from 1500-5250RPM, rather than only at 4200RPM (torque peak) on the NA motor.

I expect to see the EB motor have numbers similar to the 5.0, and to see them really pushing the torque-y nature of a twin-turbo motor. The numbers will be similar, but the EB truck will feel substantially faster due to the wide, flat torque curve.

However, the EB SHO requires premium fuel... and the initial claim was that the motor would run on regular. That will be interesting...

From another site, the SHO Taurus and F150 should be 400hp

Ford’s Taurus SHO to jump to 400 horsepower?

The EB in the Flex only requires regular. I thought the SHO was the same, but.........

Since the SHO is a performance upgrade, I would suspect that the timing is advanced enough to need premium fuel. It is probably an entirely different set of parameters in the engine management strategies of the two different models.
