Need help finding a selling Value for my '73 F100

1st off, Thank you for viewing my thread!

2nd off, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct thread or not. I am not trying to sell my pickup, I'm just trying to get an estimate for how much I could sell it for.

I recently got into some trouble, and decided that it's time to sell my 1973 Ford F100 pickup. Except I have one problem... I don't know how much to ask for the pickup.

This is where you all come in, I need help finding a Fair price for the buyer, and me.

My pickup's Information:

- 1973 Ford F100
- 302CI SBF Engine (Rebuilt around 40k miles ago)
- Regular Cab
- Long Box
- RWD
- C4 3-speed Automatic Transmission
- Engine does burn some oil (Had a head gasket problem when I bought it, which has turned into a Head gasket AND piston ring problem)
- Air Condition and Heater both work great.

The pickup is in decent condition. It's got some dings on the doors (Driver and passenger), and the box is rusty on both sides (Inner and Outer panels, Inner isn't too rusty though).

Any other questions, just ask and I will answer.

Here are some pictures to help out the visual aspect.

Thank You.

I paid $800 for this with a recently rebuilt 460 in it and much less rust.

Hate to say it, but I would estimate about $500 around here, best bet is someone needing a dump runner, work truck, etc.

Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

I was going to sell it for $500 if I could get that much out of it, or else I was going to go to $350 - 400.

I was just hoping to get at least $400 out of it, since that's how much 'debt' I have to pay off.

Indiana region - if it runs and drives decent $500 obo should be fair.

Hate to say it, but you could always sell off the engine, trans, rear axle, and scrap the rest. I would think that would net you at least $500

I'd rather just sell it as 1 whole piece. (Someone who needs a cheap vehicle would like the pickup)
It will run like a dream once I change the spark plugs, they've got some Oil on them and so it mis-fired a little bit. :/

It's tough to do without actually being there and looking it over. However, based on what I see and what you've said, your truck looks pretty basic to me. I think your skinny trim is the stuff that is really hard to find, and that tailgate looks to be in very good shape. Other than that, nothing stands out.

If the bed is rusted that bad (pretty much identical to mine) then your cab floors should be invisible (pretty much like mine). That's a downer.

Where are you located? That makes a big difference, and perhaps some other members from your area can give you a better idea. In this part of NC on a good day, your truck would fetch maybe $400 as a parts vehicle.

It seems to me that there is a trend developing in which the 302 is a big selling point. There are parts available around every corner, they are pretty cheap, they can be easily swapped for a 351W or a 289 (yes, I know several folks who have swapped in a 289!), and fuel injection conversions are readily available, being that many 5.0s were fuel injected from the factory.

Not so with the FEs.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of radio do you have in it? It doesn't look factory, but it doesn't look like a modern CD unit.

And those rear hubcaps look like they are from an AMC Eagle!

I don't think the Radio is Factory, but it's also not a modern day aftermarket radio.

It's just got AM/FM Radio. Nothing special really... :/

The bed itself is in decent condition. The inner panels of the bed have 2 small rust spots, and the bed itself has a small rust spot. I'll upload a picture of it soon.

The tailgate has 1 rod disconnected, so to open it, you have to take a pliers and push the rod, then pull the handle to open it. but the tailgate itself is in decent condition, it was pulled off of a different pickup (If you couldn't tell from the color difference. :P).

The two holes in the Bed of the truck (One on each inner rear fender, and a very small one on the bed itself).

The whole bed itself:

This is the radio, I don't know how to describe it so here's a picture. :P

A little bit beat up...

Front view:

Those were just taken like 5 minutes ago.

Does it actually have AC?

Yes, it sure does.
I tested it ~2 days ago, and it was blowing cold.

Interesting - it doesn't have any vents through the dash or AC designation on the panel.

There's a vent that's aimed towards the windshield, and it has a fan down by the pedals.
When I use the fan, the air bounces off the windshield and that's how it hits me.

There is a couple things goin for the truck. Rear slider, good trim, nice tailgate, looks like grille shell is nice to. Many people would like to have all those items in nice condition.

Can we get an under hood pic? And tell more about the a/c.

Picture taken ~8 months ago. Since then, all I've done is charged the battery, replaced some ignition wires, New alternator, and new spark plug wires. New oil change and Air filter (Nothing Major).

What do you wan't to know about the A/C? I'm not sure how exactly it's set up. My grandpa did it, and I never worried about it. In the winter, I used the Heater, and the summer time I roll down the windows, so I don't use the A/C.

That's because there is no AC in that truck. No condensor under the hood and no vents on the dash - no AC.

BTW, in my part of the country (Montana) that truck might be worth $250, but it would be worth more parted out. Not too long ago I bought a running '73 F250 4x4 in similar condition (it actually did have AC though) for $500.
