If the seats have dirt on them (even if you can't see it) water will spot cloth but that can be cleaned to an extent.

Anyways, I have had rain water fall on the sides of my cloth seats (when I open the door, the water drips in) and so far, no spots.
I'm impressed with the cloth seats in these trucks.

I went back and forth for a few days on the cloth/leather seat choice. Debbie does not especially care for leather but I ended up going that route. The new seats are really nice. I know you did not ask specifically about the leather but I thought you might like an opinion.

I had actually made the deal on a nice XLT. It was prepped for delivery. I just had the same nagging feeling you mention. What is another $6000 on a $50000 truck I will plan to run 10 years. It turns out that with the ac/heated seats Deb is happy. I also wanted the tailgate step and factory Sirius radio. The dealer had 77 F350 6.7 diesels in stock but no XLT's with those options. He had over 80 F250 6.7 diesels in stock. Big dealer in a little town in Nebraska

cummins cowboy is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
the problem is both the dodges and the fords are coming with this terrible cloth that I describe as looking like canvas. To me it looks like something that should come in the base XL or ST model. to me it looks very cheap. nothing like the nice velours that came on the older trucks, those were easy to clean.

I am a professional carpet and upholstery cleaner. the other problem with this fabric is it stains very very easily, its even worse with the light gray interiors that are so popular. the problem with light gray is nearly all soils are darker, so the reality is it might as well be white fabric.

I am really looking hard at buying an XL model ford. rather than pay the $300 bucks extra for the cloth, ie ugly canvas. I think I am just going to go with the vinyl seats and pretend they are leather after all most companies now days are only putting real leather on the front seats.

I actually liked the look of the XLT seats. They were not the driving issues in my decision to go Lariat. I never looked at it from a professional carpet cleaners viewpoint. The more little trinkets I discover with the Lariat, the more pleased I am that I spent the money. YMMV

Regards

Unless you write a check and a few thousand is a big deal.
I do like the Lariat trucks but I couldn't talk myself into it and would have changed what I had budgeted for the truck.
I probably will go Lariat next time though; we'll see.

I personally like this newer cloth vs. the older cloth seats so I guess we'll see how they look in a few years.

Debs first ride in the truck came a few days after I picked it up. It was 90 degreea outside but the seats had been cooling for a 100 miles. She asked me why the seat was so cold. She is pleased now.

I keep meaning to check out how that works. Is it a A/C line? How does it get that cold?
