proce for a used 2010 paltinum

While looking for a new F-150 and I came across two used 2010 Platinums. I am having trouble figuring out what to pay for them. KBB and NADA do not have the 2010 Platinum listed. They are both 4x4, have the NAV system and are similarly equipped (except as I explain below).

The first one has about 7,500 miles on it. It was not yet priced because they just got it in (it was in the back). I was told the price was $43,900 but they agreed to sale it for $38,500.

The second one I found was at a dealership that was closed. It has about 14,000 miles on it. This one had a price on the window of $38,500. It also has bedliner, rollback bedcover, and the side steps, but no tailgate step.

The second one has double the miles but still plenty of factory warranty. The starting price of the second one is the same as what I ‘negotiated’ on the first. However, I was not ready to buy and did not try negotiating very hard. I just asked for numbers.

The new ones have an MSRP around $50,000 with an invoice about $45,000. I think there is $3500 in rebates (and another $1k is you finance with ford). Assuming they would sale at invoice, I could get a new one for about $40,500-41,500.

How hard is it to get an invoice deal these days?
Has anyone here bought a used 2010 platinum (or other style)? What would be a great price on the used platinum?

I got mine new for about 41K and that was with bedliner, TBC, and a bed cover. No trade in and didn't use any incentives. Odds are fairly good you should be able to haggle a decent price. Most places are concerned with moving units then they are with how much money exchanges hands. Don't get me wrong, they are after more of both, but moving units is a number that I think is valued more at this time.

Welcome to FTE! I think Tex makes a very strong point. I'd gladly pay 1K-3K more for a brand new truck then a used one even with very low miles. These trucks were probably rental fleet sales or lease turn-ins not that it really matters much.

I agree the new one is better at the numbers I gave. I am about to start negotiating and over the weekend, I was not ready to buy. However, I do not know what a good price is on the used truck.

On the second truck, they are asking $38,500 – but that is asking. If they would sell it for $30k I would get it - the savings more than justify it. Maybe even at $33,000.

My question was what would be a reasonable for the used one?

my guess is they would sell them for no less than 35,000.

if a new one after rebates is 40k, then 5k off that for being a 2010 used model sounds reasonable to me. I don't think they would go all the way down to 30,000, maybe if it was a year 2009 truck instead.

also keep in mind that used car loan interest rates are typically higher than new car loans.

Not only that, used car prices are historically high right now. The long term better deal right now is going new. Better financing rates, full warranty benefits, and factory and dealer incentives.

I just bought a 2010 F-150 Lariat 4X4 with the back seats, not a crew cab for 29,500.00. It has 22,000 miles on it and it has the 5.4 engine and six speed tranny.
