Old Cheese...
Just to add to your advice.
Brake cleaner is specifically mentioned by Ford as damaging to the seals in the EGR valve.
Not to mention that carbon-tetra-floride is combustible..

No to brake cleaner.
Here is a cut away view of how the EGR sits where it's mounted:

Then the o rings melted into the sides of the intake i guess. because there are now two blue rings inside. When I was on here last week, they told me to use break cleaner to clean the valve. If this isn't correct, please tell me what I should have used, so next time I don't screw it up again.

EGR Cooler Delete (Keep the Valve Installed & Connected)
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...e-without.html
Some good info I have found, to add to this great thread. Thanks all for your input.
What is interesting, is that with the EGR Valve REMOVED, with Eric's (innovative) tunes, the fan was NOT controllable via the IDS software. I saw 260 EOT & 230 EWT with the valve removed. When the truck was returned to stock, the fan was controllable, even with the EGR valve removed. Now, with Matt's SRL++ tune, and the EGR valve plugged in, the fan is controllable, and I am not seeing the high temps I saw a month ago with the EGR valve completely removed. Water is usually at 200 and EOT @ <220. The oil cooler was replaced last year.
I asked a good local diesel repair shop, ocdieselshop.com, about 3 months ago regarding any FORD updates for my FICM, and they said there wasn't any. I present strategy is VXAP2N2.HEX.
Does anyone have some newer strategy updates for early 2003 F350?

got a question/problem
I have been reading this thread and have a question/problem. I just bought a 04 6.0 with 155xxxmiles. I was told it has a block plate on the egr valve. I am getting a p0407 code and only getting 15 pounds of boost. my truck also runs cool, 170 to 176 on the highway. I was wondering if the egr block plate is the cause of the p0407 code and the low boost?
Thanks for the help.
