GM to put a five cylinder in its colorado
I was listening to the radio the other day and they were live from the Buffalo auto show. I could not go because I was stuck at work. But one of the GM engine designers was there and had a five cylinder engine GM is going to put in its midsize pickup. I did not know if anybody heard of it. I would like to see it run for balancing reasons. "If" it works I wonder if Ford will make something like it. I guess the new F-150 and mustang were there too.

Don't get confused that MB I5 diesel is crap, a friend works at a foreign car repair shop and they are constantly in need of repairs they can't take the compression when the miles are piled on. diesels have a comp of 16-18:1. The Volvos are awesome they have great trannys and engines. They just can't help being ugly.

Yes, I have a 300D, and I also have a 190E 2.6L. The 300D has
a cast iron block, and head, and has never had a problem with
blown head gaskets (this is the 3.0L 5 cylinder that we have been
talking about). In the 90's, they came out with a 6 cylinder
version of the old 5 cylinder 3.0L diesel, and it had an aluminum
head, and I have heard of a couple of blown head gaskets with
this engine....
The 5 cylinder 3.0L diesel has oil cooled pistons, external oil
cooler, and a 7 quart oil capacity...on a 3.0L!!! Keep the filters
changed, and the valves adjusted, and this engine will run 300K-
400K miles with no problems!!! Another point about this diesel,
the injector pump is lubricated with engine oil, it is not lubricated
with the diesel fuel, so low sulfur fuel is not a problem with this
engine.....
