can some one please explain to me the location of the tach senser on a 1997 ford 7.3 liter power stroke

 

The I believe the tach get's its reading from the CPS (cam possition sensor) wich is located on the lower front of the engine. If you get under the truck and look up at the front of the engine on the pass side, you'll see a connector pluged into the engine with 2 wires comming out, that's it.

If your trying to tap into it for something like a remote starter, it wont work.
