I just bought a 1978 3\4 ton supercab with duel tanks
I was wondering how you switch from one tank to the other
I could not find a switch anywere in the truck
I've never had a stock one, my "old" 74 has a toggle switch, but I think that your selector switch is at the end of the heater controls module assuming it's a factory installation. If it's not there, don't know what to suggest. Steve
What do ya know I look right at it the other day and never noticed it
so when you switch from on tank to the other, lets say you have a full tank in the aux tank and a half tank in the main tank will the gas guage if i switch from the full tank to the aux tank will the gas guage go to a half tank
just asking because when i switch tanks the gas guage does not move
Yep, it would only make sense if the level in the tank you are using was reflected when you are using it! But unless you know all the history of your truck, it's hard to guess what a previous owner might have done, whether your gage senders are good, wiring still intact, etc., etc. You will just have to do some sleuthing with known tank levels to figure out what's going on. I would check the gage first tho, by grounding the wire at the sender thru a 10 ohm resistor, and checking that the gage reads
Full, and thru a 73 ohm resistor it should read Empty. That will eliminate the gage as a potential problem if there seem to be any discrepancies. Steve
