F1/F2 transmission crossmember

Is there any difference in the transmission crossmember between an 1950 F1 and F2, specifically the master cylinder bolt holes, etc?

I ordered the CPP power brake booster kit for a 48-52. The brackets I received don't come close to fitting per the instructions. I was wondering if it might be a difference in the F1/F2. Of course, I can't get any help from them until Monday.

Thanks.

Different crossmembers, yes. The F2 and F3, IIRC, are the same. F1 is its own type.

Yeah, the main difference is the larger truck's crossmember has a deeper belly. The brakes pedals are the same up to F-6, maybe F-7&8.

Is this the kind of kit you are trying to install? I could see where the brackets wouldn't match to a F-2 crossmember.

The master cylinders are not the same. The bolt pattern is larger on the f2 and f3. I had to cut out that section of the f1 member and weld into the f2 member so I could put the f1 master in it.

The Chassis Manual says the F-1 master cylinder (complete) for 1948 to early 1951 is part #91A 2140. The F-2 through F-6 part # is 91T 2140. In mid year '51 they switched to Bendix brakes. The late '51/'52 number for F-1 (without push rod) is 91A 22141-A and for F-2 through F-6 is 91T 22141-A. Stu

I'd like to see a pic of an F1 crossmember if anyone has one.

Thanks.

It's an old pic, but the frame rail height is the same as yours, and so you can kind of tell how small the hole is.

Well, I can definitely see the difference and why the bracket won't fit my F2. I guess I'm cursed by assumptions again. Now what to do about it - I'll have to chew on that a bit.

Thanks.

I also have a F2 and got the same unit from CPP, they told me I had to remove that bracket to make it fit. I did, and it didn't even come close, so I went to a fire wall mount brake MC. I still haven't installed it yet, but I'm sure I'll be posting some ??? when I do.
