Finally got my truck back after $8,400.00. Holy ****. Not only was the engine shot, but so was the torque converter too. The funny part was that I had them install a rebuilt Ford motor and after they put it in, the new rebuilt was bad and had to be changed out. I have had it back for two days and it seems to be running fine. I am mailing the paperwork back to the Better Business Bureau on monday and I will be curious to see if they have any luck. I had no luck dealing with the local dealership or the 800 customer service number. Someone had suggested getting ahold of an area rep for Ford, but nobody wanted to give out that info.

Wow that a lot of cash for a engine especially when a independent shop does the work. What was the deal with the torque converter? Did you have any symptoms before the engine work? Also what was wrong with the first reman? I have installed many Ford remans and have not had a single problem with them.

My wife and daughter were en-route to Canton Ohio where my daughter is getting married, when the engine in my 2005 F 150 5.4 Triton began to run rough and the engine light came on. They had just left the motel they had stopped for the night, They drove to a Ford Dealership where-by they were told that there was a problem with the number 7-8 injector They were to full up to work on it and suggested another dealership that would be able to fix it. But before they got the truck out of the bay the engine seized! The truck had to be towed to the Ford Dealership in Pilot Mountain North Carolina. Right now they have just arrived. Ford should provide them with a ?rental car so they can travel on to Canton and hopefully they do. I am flying up later on this week and if all works out, My Wife and I will drive back to Pilot Mtn. in the rental pick up my truck and then we will drive on home to St. Cloud, Fl. where we live. I will keep yall updated, Thanks for the Info It will help me out on knowing the Skinny on the engine and the Fix.

Yikes, $8400 for an 06' truck?

I personally would have gone wrecked engine-$500-$1000 plus $500 +/- labor.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. How many miles did your engine have?

If you lift that body up 6/7", pull the front tires and inner fenders out you can do that yourself. Have a machine shop fit a new piston and rod along with bearings and away you are for about $700.00 + the body lift kit. There are suprises with each job, but I think you got hosed. You got a warranty with this motor so you are good to go. I would have done it different, getting it towed home and done it myself, but I'm lucky that way, just work my arss off. LOL

Pilot Mountain Ford, That's Andy Griffiths old stomping grounds FYI
put in a new injector, changed the oil and put them back on the road,
It ran fine for about two hours and then it started running rough, engine lite came on etc. they managed to limp into Canton, and there it sits.
Of course I am a thousand miles away, I told my wife to contact the nearest Ford Dealer and have them come tow it. The engine has about 104,000 on it well within the limits of the recall that's on the engine.
From what my future son in law reports the engine is shot. So I will demand that Ford replace it. I will keep yall informed.

4.6 L locked up

My 2005 4.6L began to misfire Saturday night. Quickly went to a knock after I idled down the closest off ramp. Cylinder #8 hydrolocked. There's internal damage judging by the looks of the plug. My extended warranty expired 2 days and 7400 miles before this happened.

It's at the dealer now and I had to talk to he general manager just to get someone to work with me to start a case with ford. I called ford myself and they explained it's on only 5.4L engines and here is no satisfaction program that refers to my 4.6

I've been a mechanic for 16 years. I know this is the same problem. And just out of my extended warranty.

PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS INFO THAT WILL HELP ME MAKE FORD RESPONSIBLE POST OR EMAIL ME

bill.cranford@gmail.com

Thanks so much
