Question Bedliners

Just curious to see out there who has a bedliner be it a spray on (Kit or Professional) or a hard shell bedliner. I'm looking for something cheap to gussy the truck up a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

James H.

My truck came with a hard liner, over the rail type. I haven't really looked at it to see if there is a brand name or anything. If I were to buy one, I would get an under the rail as the edges don't sit flat on the bedsides.

at the supernats, a guy had the under rail liner from a 88-98 C#$%y truck in his 66 shortbed. He said you either have to remove the front stake pockets or cut clearance for them in the bedliner.

Unless you want rust problems or reduced bed width capability, I would suggest staying away from the hard, drop in liners. These typically rub the paint off the top rails, fender wells, and floor of the bed. They also tend to hold moisture under them and cause rust. The spray or roll on liners are far superior to the old types.

I agree, spend a bit more money and go with spray/roll in.
It may cost more for the bedliner to start with
But do you really want to ruin paint?
How about do you want to ruin your whole bed from rust?
I got a 90 GMC w/ a dropin over rail and I hate it. It was in it when I got it tho, so paint is already rubbed off. I'll see if it'll fit my 66 Ford tho so I can let you know

I used roll on bedliner on the bed floor in my truck, but I don't haul anything with the truck, so I riveted some aluminum plate with the stamped diamonds (the same kind of stuff some tool boxes are made of) over the whole bed floor, it looks pretty cool, well its different anyway.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking at a roll-on as the price seems relatively cheap. I guess my major concern was removal later on down the road, but I'm betting that it will remove just like really stubborn paint. Thanks again.

Maybe I'm missing something , but if you have a bed with nice paint and few scrathces why would you want to cover it up with what looks like undercoating? If you have to smear something on that sticks to your paint like more paint how could this be called a "bedliner"? If you have a conventional drop in liner and it rubs a little paint off at least you could touch it up and have your original finish back. Good luck doing that after you've smeared it with that black goop! Thanks for hearing me out and don't hesitate to set me straight if you feel the need!

Will agree that a soray in liner looks better than the DIY kits, but a bed that has the paint rubbed off, thats an expensive fix. The sprayed in liners are available in several colors and lokk pretty good if done properly.

My bed looks okay although when the truck was restored by the previous owner they didn't pay much detail to the underside and inside of the bed hence I have pitted portions behind the cab and some parts in the corners where rust is creeping in. I though a bedliner (roll on, spray on, whatever) would atleast stop the rust and deaden the sound a bit and maybe even make it a little more durable. I'd love to find an oak strip kit for a styleside, flareside, whatever it's called (the one without rear fenders and the tiny bed like what was on my '48).

If you want to save the bed... DO NOT put a drop in bedliner, they hold moisture. Not a lot but enough to make it rust faster
Just my 2 cents

I have a 63 F100 (not a unibody) it has the 57 type style side bed. Will pick the truck up next week from the paint and body shop. The bed is beat has been repaired several times by overlapping pieces of metal in the fron half. This is where water sits when it rains. I was wondering if there is a drop in liner that would fit these older type beds. I have not been able to find one. My other alternative would be to have the old metal cut out. New metal put in and then put a spray or roll in liner. The drop in one would be cheaper if there is one. The bed is already beat and patched but solid.
