chipping a 3.0L 2002 ranger....good idea?

I was just wondering if it's even worth the money to chip my 02 ranger (good power output, good raise in MPG) any thoughts or comments?

3.0 chip

Chipping your ranger is really up to you. I have a diablo programmer stacked with a jet chip and have a noticeable change in economy. Power in the low end is also better. I really like it but gk will probably tell you to leave them out because you will ruin your ranger with them. But i have had mine on since 2004 and have not had one problem.

great question. I put a chip in my '03 3.0 and the results are amazing. Everytime I hit the throttle she says 'thank you'. Also, I put JBA headers, granatelli wires and E3 plugs K+N filter, Royal Purple SynOil that were ALL a massive improvement. My brother has an '09 w/4.0 and he can't believe how quick my 3.0 is. Also, I run mid grade fuel (89 oct) but you can still get by with 87 although for max power 92 is the best. Good to have options

the juice has got to be worth the squeeze. if one wishes to go fast, they need something built for speed, such as a sport car or sport bike. a ranger is an economical pickup. getting it to go fast requires an enormous amount of money, which you will never get back, ever. alot of people will say that if it was meant to have a performance part then it wouldve had one from the factory. i have found this not to be true. because the factory must maintain a balance of power, mpg, noise, torque, lifespan, cost, and purpose, otherwise it doesnt get a good reputation. flowbench tests, and dyno tests do not lie, so if you need a couple horses, or mpg it can be obtained, but will cost money and upset another item of the equation that is no longer balanced.

What chip are you looking at? Source? Cost?
