Anyone bought fenders from classicautoparts.com?

I am looking at buying a full front clip from classicsutoparts.com. I am hoping that this will make the modifications less, because the inner and outer fenders are made to connect to the Radiator support, and so I will just have to do some mods at the cab, and for the battery box.

Has anyone bought parts from these guys?

Are they good parts, or the cheap China tin?

Has anyone put a 64 front clip on a 66, and how hard are the mods?

Not sure if same outfit; Obsolete Ford Parts was forced by FoMoCo to change the company name and I believe it's now called 'Classic Auto Parts', not sure. I use to buy from 'Obsolete Ford Parts' often because of they carried quality parts. Purchased entire Flareside bed and very pleased with the construction and thickness of material. When it came to replacing rear fenders, purchased set from a SoCal Ford parts supplier and found the gage was about as thick as a beer can. Suggest call and inquire, with any luck they will be in the 16-18 gage, most of the floor pans I have come across run around 20-21 gage.

Yeah that is the obsolete ford site. As you thought they did change their name. From things I've read and seen they seem to be very reliable. In fact the truck I am kind of modeling mine after was rebuilt with a lot of obsolete ford parts. 1965 Ford F100 - Classic Trucks Magazine
I plan on using them very soon. If you go this route let me know what you think too.

AFAIK, only one company is repopping the fenders in steel, and they are made in China.

All the repro parts sellers sell not only to the general public, but to each other as well.

Which means...if one company has the fenders, so do all the rest.

A license fee is required by FoMoCo to use the Ford name, blue oval, Ford part numbers in catalogs and etc.

Most of the repro/obsolete parts vendors didn't want to pay FoMoCo's HUGE license fee, so they changed their names.

Denniis Carpenter is one of the few that can use all a this.

You're welcome. I just bought two complete vent window assemblies from Tom. Stands behind his stuff and he won't ship rusted junk.

I assume you were asking this of me, and the reason I don't want to go original, is I have looked at all of the stuff I can find in my area, and most of it is junk. I am not even a good finish welder, and therefore repairing almost any visible damage entails paying someone, and that is not allowed for in my budget.

I figured I would check here before I bought so I would at least have an idea if I was buying good stuff or crap. The other thing that attracted me was all of this stuff was made to go together, and therefore I don't have to fab on both sides of the inner fenders.

I really wish someone would reman the 65/66 radiator support, but that is an issue well hashed on this forum. So I know no matter what I need a radiator support, and both inner and outer fenders, so why not buy things that are meant to go together.

don't expect 'new' to not require work. I bought a new lower splash shield from NPD and probably have more work into it than if I would have had if I just fixed the original. I ended up cutting out all the spot welds and correcly positioning the brackets to the shield. The passenger side bracket was 1/2" off from where it should have been.

Before I had common sense I had a chevy truck. I bought aftermarket fenders for it, installation was a bi*ch.

Aftermarket Tin = Junk.

"Aftermarket"---- Will fit parts that probubly won't. Made by a $2.00 a day laborer that has no idea what it's for in a place that doesn't even have a paved street! 'nuff said. Tom

1965/66: There are THREE different radiator supports for F100/350's.

C2TZ18138G = 1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD / 1961/66 F350/600 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD / Obsolete/Reproduced.

C6TZ16138B = 1966 F100/250 2WD / Obsolete

C6TZ16138C = 1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / Obsolete

Regarding the truck in the feature article...lots of differences...core support should be black, suspension is different ride level, wheels...It does look good though...

As far as Flashback F100's...Ive met Tom when he popped by to look at a truck I was trying to sell...didnt happen due to the aux. fuel tank door common in west coast rigs.
He is a very nice guy and very knowlegable...last time I sent him a msg he even remembered me...a year or so after looking at my truck!!! Funny thing is...he had a F100 Flareside local fire dept truck he picked up off ebay..He outbid me...But feel totally at ease when dealing with Tom...he is definately a good guy to deal with on these truck parts.
