UPSET...DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX MY CAM PHASERS, EVEN WITH EXT. WARRANTY?
I like many of you have a 2004 FX4 5.4 Triton F150 with the nasty "diesel knock/ticking" sound. I am easy on this truck and have always used Motorcraft 5w-20 and Motorcraft filters. It only has 56,000 and the noise keeps getting worse, especially going through drive up windows. It is to the point where my buddies are telling me, "I think there is something wrong with your truck?" Which is just great to hear coming from my Chevy and Toyota buddies!! I have an extended warranty that my Ford dealer sold to me that is good through 85,000. I have told my dealer many times that this noise cannot be normal or healthy for the motor, and I would like it to be fixed under the extended warranty. They simply tell me, "yes it is a bit loud but it won't harm anything and we're not going to address it at this time." This really ticks me off and the noise is really getting to me. Now, I have read some horror stories on here of fellow members having engine failures because of the phasers. And others that have had success getting their dealers to fix them. Do you think going to a different dealer will help my cause? I am a die hard Ford man but I am losing my patience big time!!

Ford would not cover noise under orig warranty so unless its throwing codes they are not going to cover it under this . They are going to wait you out until your warranty expires same as orig warranty . Maybe you can scope it with a camera to see if you have broken guides and take pictures to prove it thru top which may mean pulling valve covers to go down beside phasers .
Me i would do engine flushes several times and run marvel mystery oil . If it breaks loose and start throwing codes then they should fix it . But don't tell them .I would use conventional oil for flush changes . Most of these problems are caused by oil pressure and dirty oil screens on vcts clogged . New vcts better .omly use latest oem parts .Use only mc filters as they have good anti drain back valve .Wally world has them cheap. If guides broken then oil pu will be full of fibers . Oil pan drop needs to be done at that point .
External oil pressure test may be what you need to look at ,Dash gauge is junk it just reads midscale for anything over 7psi
