You can't figure out mileage by the size of the gas tank. You need to fill the gas tank, zero out the trip odometer (or just write down the odometer reading if you don't have one), drive until it's almost empty, and then fill up again. Divide the number of miles by the number of gallons it took to fill up the second time. Your gas gauge reading can be way off. You could easily have several gallons left in the tank when the gauge shows empty. Also, if you speedometer isn't calibrated correctly for your tires, your speed and odometer readings can be off a considerable amount.
