'07 w/ 70K miles 5.4L any problem areas?

Looking at a '07 4wd 5.4L with 70K miles anything I need to look into when I test drive it?

Not F150 specific, but just check to see if it's up on services, etc, double check what kind of oil has been run on it.. make sure for consistency in services and typical maintenance.

With the 4wd, make sure 4wd works, hubs are good look around for any leaks and such, and check the CV boots and fins to make sure they're not touching (leveled) or torn.

If it's got a LSD, make sure it works. hah, see if they put any sawdust in there as a modifier so it works for like 100 miles so they can get it off the lot (shouldn't have any issues in the 70K you're looking at).

Good luck, and the truck should last ya a while. Those miles sound mostly highway, considering my '07 has 46K and that's got a lot of highway miles on it.

Ya bro look under it and make sure its a motorcraft oil filter pretty easy to spot drivers side front. test drive it if u hear any thing going over bumps in the front or it doesn't feel completely smooth then it needs stabilizer links or ball joints very minor, engine ticking is normal. should idle at 700-900rpm no more. yelow/gold coolent good luck

I think by '07 the spark plug issue was cleared up but I would have them change the spark plugs for you as a part of the deal anyway.

The '07 does have the spark plug issue. The newer heads came out in December of '07 which would be an '08 model. What BirdmanStyll said about the Motorcraft oil filter is nonsense. They aren't the only filters out there with an anti drain back valve. But if I saw a Fram underthere, I would be concerned. So if you can get them to change the plugs, go for it.

I figured a plug change is a must before I'd buy it. The dealer is screwing around on this specific truck and I have found a few other '07s and a '09 so far as well. Finding a lot of STX's but every one is missing something I need to have it seems.

I can say one thing so far Kelley blue book is either getting really inflated in their prices or dealers are wanting to sell bad, most are listing around trade in or just above according to KBB but I still have only been somewhat comfortable with a few of the prices. There have been a few basket cases that they are asking for way too much as well. And Rangers seem to be holding their MSRP value after a year or two, at least according to KBB which I can't believe.
