New 6.0L PSD Factory Stopwork?

my 6.0 was built 1/03 and delivered jan.24th. at 200 miles i experienced a lack of power when accelerating. this happened twice on a 200 mile trip. after stop[ping and getting diesel it ran fine. the next day it did it again so i took it to the dealership they tested it and said nothing was wrong. the next day it did it again, i was told to keep an eye on the guages to see if it did it at a specific temp. (yea right). anyway at 1200 miles it died after some rough idleing and was towed. new #4 injector was replaced and a new (remanufactured) turbo installed just in case fuel got into the turbo bearings. they also changed the oil three times to get any possible fuel contamination out of the crankcase. after a week i was able to pick it up. the next day heavy black smoke at start and very rough idle. towed again. this time it was a pcm adjustment. they even put a sticker on the hood of my truck with the programming code. anyway just wanted to let ya know so far it has been a litttle scary. truck runs very strong at the moment. i would appreciate any feedback concerning the injectors or pcm programming.
thanks fyrengineer

Gerald, don't get too worried about some of the stories. As with any new product, there will be some learning taking place. I had to replace the ICP, really minor! Otherwise, at 3500 miles I could not be happier. This is one great truck, and running like a top.

I find "stereotyping" can be very constructive. I think it's natures way of protecting yourself. It may keep you from making a bad decision on a certain purchase or may come in handy when you see a certain type of dog walking around un-leashed and you decide to stay away because of that dogs "stereotype".

The concept may be useful for finding a manufacturing defect in a new truck in terms of making a decision on whether or not to purchase a new truck. As it applies to people.....not quite the same thing for unions..i.e..."All union workers are Lazy"......just not true...........fd

None of the people I've met with bad work habits are union members. If they were, that would give them another excuse for their laziness.

The incompetent, loafers and complainers like to have excuses.

Hmmm...maybe I should get off this computer and head off to work....

I have the new 6.0 PSD. Got it in May. I now have 6000 miles on it. I'm getting 16.8 mpg, and have had NO TROUBLE...I mean NO TROUBLE. Guess I'm just lucky.

Well guess I will throw in my .02 cents. I worked at Ford dealerships for 23 years. And you talk about to many recalls. Ford could just let you live with the problems but no when they find a problem they try to correct it. Some manufacturers would ignore it. Someone else said the Focus was the Pinto of the 21st century. I put 300 thousand miles on my 77 Pinto so sounds good to me. While Ford is not perfect and I quit after seeing labor times cut and dealers cutting techs pay ratio to Labor rate.I still wouldnt own anything else. I have an 89 Mustang GT with 143,000 miles never been touched except maintenance. My brother has a F150 with 300,000 miles and nothing but a timing chain, water pump and carb replacement. They are as good as the Foreign cars. I do disagree with new products having to be proven by the consumer but guess you cant really find out how good something is until it is out on the street. My 95 F350 PSD only has 97,000 miles on it. I keep thinking about a 6.0 but the huge sticker price scares me since mine is paid for. I agree that Ford needs to some improving and I am confident that they will. Not soon enough but they will.
And to the guy at IH that has the bad attitude. You dont have a bad attitude you take pride in what you do and you get mad about it. I have been known to be that way myself.
So keep up the attitude it might change someone who works with you into caring as much as you do. And keep them 6.0s going. I cant wait to own one...
This forum is great.

International seems to be ahead of our Ford friends. We seem to have a lot less problems with our 6L(VT365), and we stress them a lot more with heaver loads in bigger chasis. Hang in there Ford, you'll get there............
