replacing a ford freestar pcm?

a freind has a 2005 ford freestar that needs a new pcm. she said the mechanic said it got wet. i did a google search and found that its a pretty common problem on the freestar. is the pcm a dealer only item? if i can get one at a junk yard is there anything i need to know about swapping the pcm?

quick search on autozone is hopeful. Engine wasn't listed so I went with the 3.9L

part number 78-9195F

Good luck.
