Interchangable speedo cable?
My speedometer has gone wacky so I need another cable. I have a 302 with four speed overdrive, I think it is the T170/RUG but haven't checked the numbers on the case (don't even know where they are yet!)
So what cables are interchangable?
Does it have to be from that transmission or can it be from a three speed, a four speed granny gear, or even an automatic?

There is a whole pile of spedometer cable types and sizes. If you can not compare it with a FORD manual. You can pull up a 1973-1979 LMC FORD truck catalog. In there go to the page with the spedometer cables, find yours and then find any others with the same serial number. Rockauto is great for checking part interchange also. Look up your part then hit the what it fits button. I was looking speedo cables up yesterday and it seemed in the old variety of cables it was just the length of the cable that varied. The ends seemed mostly the same. Then I looked up later models for my conversion project, then I was presented with a few more connection options, with or without cruise etc.
