Changes from 77 to 89 on a 302? swap easy?

basically dealing pickup truck to pickup truck here. want to try to install an 89 302 into a 77 for a friend. Been a while for SBF's for me but i remember counterweights changing. this is important to know because we are dealing with a stick shift truck. will the 77 flywheel work on the 89. other than obvious intake manifold/water pump changeover & such will this be an easy swap. Intake ports compatible?? taking the oil pan off anyway to install a new pump while it's out. thanx, crossy

Yes the counterweight changed in 1981 so the current flywheel won't work with the '89 motor you will need a 50oz version. The only other possible difference you may have to deal with would be the absence of a mounting point on the block for a mechanical clutch linkage, all other parts will swap between them.

intake ports and all are basically the same, maybe just a tad bit larger because the heads are probably E7's
