I see you are in Texas, there has to be a spring shop somewhere close. look in the yellow pages under "springs".

Shops can re arch older worn out ones or make you new ones from scratch. If that spring is that bad you'll probably need new bushings, eye bolts, and shackle bolts too. Always use new U-bolts as well.

I just had modified springs and new shock mounts made for my 51 with all new hardware. They made special springs from scratch - made a tremendous diff in the ride and drive handling. Also corrected a bab pinion angle vibration problem.

If it is safely driveable (and I mean drive slow) take it by and have them look at it and give you an opinion. If not driveable, then take to old ones off and take them in and ask for repair or replacements. Should be about $150 to $200.

Well $200 isnt bad. then the whole front suspension will be done lol. There isnt much to it. Julie the truck hasnt run in 30+ years and I havent got it going quite yet. The 289 will be in soon though. The truck leans badly to the passenger side. I got underneith and counted. the passenger leaf is missing 2 or 3 bars.. haha

Ouch! Usually if they were built off balance there were EXTRAs on the passenger side to comp for engine torque.

Front suspension is done otherwise? New kingpins, drag link, and tie rod ends too? Then definately get new bushings and pins with the springs! I might be tempted to replace your wheel bearings too. That wil give yo a great ride! mine were all bad and I replaced EVERYTHING - phenominal diff!

The spring shop I go to in Boise told me the price basically doubles if the mains can't be reused. They described the mains as the leaf with the spring eyes on each end. If they don't have to remake that one it would have been about $400 to have both of my rear springs made up. I found a set from a 51 in my local yard for $150, so I went that route. Of course, the first time I get it on the road and driving it might go straight to the spring shop for newer springs.

My front springs were custome made from scratch with reverse eyes to lower a dash, new shackles, bolts, pins, bushings, shocks and U-bolts. They were specially made to automatically incorporate a 4 1/2 degree castor angle for the front axel.

I took the truck in and had them do the job from drive in to drive out. With labor-$625. That's at $90/hr. I figure at least 4 hours of labor - easy.

I called today.. He said he would have to custom make them. $300 a piece! I cannot afford that.

Yep things are getting expensive. Even buying new at LMC will cost you $250 ea:

LMC Truck Parts - Page 79

But as was mentioned, if the main leaf is ok he should be able to insert new leaves and re arch the existing ones for about $125-$150 each. That is th eoriginal quote I got on just my springs when I was pricing!

Maybe someone here who has done a MII front end has a set they will sell you cheap! YO might want to look at some other 53-55s on the site and start nosing around peoples write ups for MII mods and send them some PMs asking if they still have their stock gear.

Also, send a PM to Bill Walford (WALFORD'S 56) or Dave Boley for a set.

Too bad you are not closer...are you talkin fronts or rears? maybe I missed it but I assume fronts...I have a set of fronts but The shipping would be a hassle and expensive along with the fact that these springs are 61 years old. (49 F3) my rear springs looked perfect until I decided to take them apart....when I did they fell apart like dropping a deck of cards on the floor!....now I got a bucket of leaf spring CHICKLETS...

Chatting with the guy online he said they only have the Leaf Springs for 1945-1952 F1. Did Ford change them? I guess they wont fit right?
