720 Deere

720 Deere,

Your username suggests there are John Deere 2 cylinders in your life. I grew up on a dairy farm in NE Iowa and we had a few of them. From A's, B's, 50, 520, 60, 70, 2-720's, and a 730. The A and the 730 were my favorite ones, logged a lot of hours on each.

One of the 720's was narrow front and that one was one powerful SOB...little stronger than the 730, but not as smooth. Use to love crowding ear corn into the mixer-mill with that 720 driving it...at night the manifolds would glow red, I swear I could watch the mass flow of exhaust flowing through the pipe to muffler...and would through a nice little flame out the end of the pipe.

Great way to grow up...hard way to make a living.

Cheers,

Brian

Yes sir, Brian. I have a 720 diesel that I use for antique tractor pulling. My dad, brother and uncle are all into it. Between the 4 of us we have all of the 20 series, all of the 30 series, an A, 70 diesel and an 80. Even though tractors like the 4440 were the hot thing when I was a kid I did a lot of work with 2 cylinders. Like you said, fun times but I'm glad I don't make a living doing it!

Does anyone know if the ready-lift 2.5f/1.0r kit (stage 3 tow) actually increases the space between the frame blocks and the overload springs?

No it does not. It just increases the distance between the springs and the axle. The springs and the distance between the spring and the stops remains unchanged.

The box says F4-BE5-F884-H0...funny because the drivers side bolt/pin was not what the stock Ford dampner had and I had to press the old pin out of the stock dampner and install into above Bilstein...not an easy task or for the faint of heart. Stock pin had taper fit and Bilstein had step shoulder with two flat spots milled.

I can't find the paper work right now...I ordered it from Shock Warehouse in Florida, but I do remember their website stated it was for 2011 F350.

I'm thinking about installing the bilstein dual shock dampener from top gunz.

Epic,

The only question I have is, how does your truck sit with your 5er on the back. Does the rear sag??

Yes, the fifth wheel puts 3,700 lbs in the back. Compresses the rear 3 inches. One button on the airbag compressor and it comes back up 2 inches. Exactly level front to back.

Scorpion2,

Do not order what I did...I had to take it back off as it did not have the correct travel.

Now I need to call Shock Warehouse, return it, get the right one -->> Frustrating

Front End Alignment

Had my truck realigned yesterday. Printed off Epic's info and put down my own notes...a little extra toe-in to make it track good.

$89 later and the truck tracks straight with no looseness or "bounce steering". Neal's Tire in Washington, IL - Great service, guys are sincere and friendly.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a ReadyLift Stage 3 TP kit. Will post back with some pics when I am done. Will also get an alignment afterwards even though I have the track bar relocation bracket in my kit.
