2002 V10 Excursion got wet and now won't shut up

Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - PADoubleX's Album: DoubleX

Hello all,

Just got back from camping, everyone focused on getting unpacked before the rain hits, mission accomplished.

Rain is torrential, think, "Who the captain of the U-Boat" from Ferris Buehler. Of course, truck windows are down.

After about 15 minutes, I remember, get out there get the windows up. Start the truck, turn on heat on floor just to get some air circulation. Truck runs fine.

After about an hour, rain stops, I go out to start drying stuff off more. Turn the ignition to "on" position and hear an "eeeeeeeeeeeee" sound, then horn starts beeping intermittantly, not like the alarm more of a random sound, it then progresses to contast honk.

Power off the truck, horn still won't shut up. It was probably about 60 seconds by the time I got the neg cable off, it seemed like a freaking hour of honking.

So I pull the fuse for the horn #37, and all is quiet. Power on truck and same "eeeeeeeeeee" sound. I identified the source, it's a "relay" (my guess) that's located between the steering column and the radio. If you lay on the floor looking up behind the dash, it's located at about 11 O'clock.

Fuse box and fuses all dry. Ideas? My guess is a ground is wet somewhere and I'm not getting a good ground for something. So my plan at this point is to let everything dry out.

Anybody have any ideas? Can someone identify the thing in the picture?

Thanks,

Chris

PS, I'm certain the "eeeeeeeeee" sound is not MY '05 Diesel X, mocking my wife's '02 V10.....

The above quote is from Risky Business, with Tom Cruise.

I think that's the PATS module, don't know why it would be making fun of you're wife's V10 though

In all the excitement I guess I lost count.... I stand corrected it was Risky Business.

So what's the thing in my picture? Is it the PATS relay?
