My 55 is still running with the 223 6 cyl and 3-spd 32 axle. I took it on the freeway and was crusing between 65-70 mph. Although the truck handled nicely, is this a bit too fast for this set-up? I don't want to blow-up the engine. I realize trucks seldom (if ever) traveled at those speeds. Thanks.
well depends on what rpm your running at that speed but the motor is not going to self destruct at 2500-3000 rpm. the internals might wear a little more but not like its going to come flying apart.
I have a 55 V8 with 3.90 and when on the Freeway keep it at around 60mph.
Don't like the engine revs at 70, but, I don't think it will hurt anything at 70.
