Murphy strikes again, still no travel trailer

So, thanks to the help from this sight I got my brake controller hooked up and went today at 1pm to pick up my travel trailer.

I came real close to a damaged shoulder and a damaged truck. We checked all the lights and everything worked but the brake lights. Everything works at my plug now, so I guess there's a bad ground somewhere in the trailer, though it surprises me the turn signals work but not the brake lights since its the same bulb filament.

Anyway I was going to go ahead and take delivery and figure out the brakes later so I got up in the bed and started to crank the goose neck down a bit to level out the trailer and *BOOM*. It fell about 8" and hit the tops of the sides of my bed. The hitch is apparently stripped out.

The dealer asked if I still wanted the trailer or my depost back, I told him I'd rather have the trailer but the hitch needs to be fixed and I'd like the brake lights fixed, too. See what he says tomorrow. I may be back in the market for a trailer again.

I would think brake lights would be the most important thing to have working. Hope the dealer is able to get them working.

I try to never move a trailer down the road unless the lights work; and I will get all the lights working, clearance as well. I don't know if there is anything that is as annoying as a trailer with lights out, either tail or clearance.

Hopefully there was no damage to your truck bed? Just for that, I'd have the dealer put some new tires on the TT as well.

No damage to the truck, the trailer only fell about 6-8" and struck pretty square, plus I've got those plastic bed rail protectors. It scratched one of those a bit, but that's what they are there for.
