1985 ford f250 hard start

I have a 85 f250 that i bought a few weeks ago that is starting to give me issues when starting when warm. Fires right up in the morning, two pumps on the gas pedal crank for maybe two secs and bang she fires right up. now after a few miles of driving if i try to start it when its warm i have to floor the gas pedal and crank for 5 to 10 secs to get it to fire up. Any ideas?? It has the 351 winser with stock 4 barrel carb that just got rebuilt 3 months ago. also the gas pedal sits about four inches farther in then the gas pedal, is that normal? it did idle at about 750 in park or neutral and 500 in drive i turned the idle up to 1000 rpm when in park or neutral. what is the correct idle speed?

Carb is leaking and flooding the motor.

When hot, shut off and look down the carb throat, see fuel dripping???

There are multiple reasons for this, the most common reason I have seen is when their is no phenolic carb spacer, to much heat gets transfered causing the fuel bowls to after boil.

-Enjoy

You should have site plugs on the side of the carb, where you can check the fuel level in the carb.
