So I call my local dealer for a reusable gasket since I am not a fan of the cork, and the parts guy says that apparently my transmission pan only uses a silicone to seal it? lol wtf I'm thinking so in short does anybody have a part # for this reusable gasket? If I remember it is really for the 4r100 but theyre somewhat similar to e40d
i got mine at napa when i flushed the trans.it came with the filter for like 45 bucks or so.kinda pricey.
imho if your going to replace it,then now is the time for a flush/filter anyway.
its recommended every 30k.
Don't forget to pull the grommet in the bottom of the bellhousing and remove the plug for the torque converter to drain it also. Usually good for another few quarts of old fluid. Just thought I'd post it for anyone that didn't know.
So you know for sure, pull another bolt and match it up to not only diameter and thread pitch but also length. Don't be surprised if they are metric.

thank you for reminding me, now odds are the flywheel wont be lined up to reach the drain plug do I need a special tool to rotate it?
also, now would be a great time to install a shift kit.
they are great because they make the trans shift firm and quickly into gear.this does two things.
1.it reduces friction thereby reducing heat.
2.it firms the shifts and doesnt waste energy while hauling loads.feels really good btw while hauling.she sets ya into the seat a bit between shifts.does so when you come onto her empty too. by shifting into gear and engaging the clutches quicker, rather than letting them "slush"/"slip",it means your clutches last longer.
its kinda time consuming, and you need to be careful not to lose anything but WELL worth the hassle.
i really enjoy the b&m shift kit with the stage 1/hd install.
something to consider.
i used Mark Kovalsky 's (he's an retired and or ex ford trans tech engineer) method.even though i had a TC drain plug, and it worked great! there's a guide by him here.but i still havn't figured out how to search and find the tech guides so i can't seem to find it.

Anything that will make the transmission last longer I'm all ears, is this what you are talking about http://trickshiftperformance.com.au/...hift%20kit.JPG if so what are all those metal and gasket looking things and how hard is this to install
yes.thats exactly it.
there are more advanced ones, but unless your going to pull the trans to install the other parts, that's the ticket right there.
the instructions make it pretty simple to understand.whats such a PITA is,there are check ***** and springs etc that you need to be careful of,and drill(and then wipe very clean) a few holes.
it's not hard to understand and follow though.just careful, time consuming steps.soooo worth it though.id do it over again in a heart beat.
i put one in a c-6 years ago too,so i knew what i was in for.dont be scared to do it yourself.just plan on a couple hrs going slow thats all.
this will help too if you loose your ***** lmao: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...our-*****.html
you'll be so happy if you do this, and be thanking me like crazy latter.
i kinda wish i set that spring and screen into place before i took that pic(see them in the upper left,in the tray?) but in the instructions there is a pic.those parts are clear anyway.the check ***** where not(its like way to dark to see them.)so between the two, you'll have it made in the shade.
