Looking for a new truck, found a 1999 Crew Cab
Hello,
(My Title is wrong, its a 1999)
Presently have a 1985 F250 6.9 rusty truck. I pull a 6000 lb travel trailer.
Decided to start looking for something newer. Found a decent F350 1999 Power Stroke Crew Cab 4x4 that looks pretty good. 4 Rear tires are just about toast. Looks like its recently out of inspection.
Says it has about 103k on odometer. Blue book says $12485 for excellent to $11,960 for good. Tires worn, paint chipping on hood, but otherwise pretty good. I'm thinking its good around 12k sounds fair.
I'm sure its big enough to tow the trailer, but is it too big?
What kind of mileage should I expect?
What things should I watch out for?
Regards,
Will

If it were me I'd keep looking. The price sounds kind of high. Also, when looking at 99's, get the build date. There was an early 99 (really 98 model) and a late 99. The late 99 had some upgrades under the hood.

Fuel economy will depend on your driving habits, city/hwy miles, and what kind of truck you end up with. Lifts, large tires, and things like that hurt fuel economy. Generally speaking I'd say 15-20 mpg as a rough average.
