Glad Diane posted that thread. This will give us a place to link folks to when they come online and start worrying about their smog inspection.

I wonder if they are going to put together a CARB compliant "package deal" or leave it to folks like Dennis and Clay to put together the intake, exhaust, CA packages?

Here's an update~

Due to no response since June from the CARB guy Jody has been dealing with we have been taken off the current in process list. They're seems to be an unforeseen email issue.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE CAN'T GET CARB CERTIFIED
(sorry for the caps, I need to emphasize that)

From discussions with the CARB guy, they want as many as possible who makes aftermarket products to have an EO number. We will keep you informed. For instructions on what you need to do in the mean time please call or email us.

Diane

A reason for everything~

Jody called the guy this morning. He apologized and said we were barried in a huge stack of a ton of companies getting on the list for their EO number. Because the product has not completed the testing series we were not on this past revised list. We have what we need to complete the testing. We have 1.5 years to get this completed. The in process list IS final. We will still be able to get an EO number. Once our testing is 100% complete I will post back.

Thanks

Diane

In the mean time, the F5 will no longer be CARB legal, correct?

How long do you estimate to get it tested and approved?

Nothing is CARB legal until it gets it EO number. To be honest, the injectors you are running would be far more likely to fail you then running Jody tuning set a low hp. Jody talked to the guy yesterday about injectors and anything that is not stock will not pass regardless if you are running a programmer product that does have a CARB EO number. It will be the injectors that get you, not the chip.

The tuning testing is extensive. What has happened was not our fault. The list will be revised again and next time I have no doubt we will be back on the in process list.

Do you see this guys?
Jody and Diane are doing thier part to be emissions compliant, but the testers look at the entire drivetrain when testing.
Consider carefully how much hassle you want to go through before putting in those Stage III injectors.
.
Probably the biggest you could get away with are stage 1.

Yes, sorry to say, our tuning testing will be done on a completely stock truck.

Simply by hooking up an opacity meter to your tail pipe.
They know how much opacity a "stock" truck will put out of the tail pipe.
Any more than that is an indicator that something is out of place.
It could be a simple as a clogged air filter.
But if you've got a smoky truck and all the externals are clean and tight, then it's a good sign that something is illegal under the hood.

A custom emissions tune *should* take care of that, I would think. And enough air from the turbo to clean up the smoke. Boy, I'm glad I don't have to deal with getting sniffed....... Yikes. Think I'd pass??
