Found a Parts Truck

Hello All,

I usually spend my time in the 1948 - 60 forum. But, I thought I would share this with you all. I found a 1965 SWB Stepside for $300.00 in Dallas for Parts.

1965 Ford F100

No tailgate though! That would have made it worth it! LOL

Did I Purchase it?

No, I was just sharing - My wife would kill me if I came home with another "project". I saw that it was a SWB stepside with a pretty solid body for $300.00 and had to share with everyone on here! The phone number is in the ad. It couldn't hurt to call him to see if he would be willing to part it out.

I would be interested in some of the parts, let me know if you find out any info. I am 75 miles east of Dallas, maybe we could work out something on parting this truck out.

1961/66: There were SEVEN different types. One for 1961/63 F100/250's, another for 1964 F100/250's. Two different types for 1965 F100/250's and another for 1966 F100/250's.

One for 1961/64 F350/1100's, another for 1965/66 F350/1100's.

Hi Bill -

I have a cow catcher on my 1966 Ford F100. Was this a factory Ford optional accessory? Is there a Ford part number stamped on it somewhere?

Thanks,
Dan M.

It was a dealer installed optional accessory.

From my 1966 accessory brochure: The part number is C6TZ8307A, the MSRP was $32.90.

AFAIK, there is no number marked on it. But, I haven't seen one a these since grandma was a girl, so I cannot be sure of that.

Personally, I never cared for these things, because they can do more harm than good. If hit, the puppy can be pushed not only back into the grille, but into the upper grille panel and hood as well.

Since the braces mount to the radiator support, both it and the radiator, the fan and etc could be affected.

Updated Pic

It looks like the seller updated his pictures and motor info- its got a 390 in it and I can see the stepside has the indentation for a spare tire.

How does the seller know it's a 390? He prolly doesn't, and only assumes it has a 390.

Since 390's (and 360's) weren't available until 1968 in F100/350's, and most ppl never heard of the 352...

On sale day, 352 (and 360) engines magically become 390's.

I believe they sell the 30 Cubic inch increase Fairy dust through LMC. It even comes with little F-100 fairies to apply it.

Honestly, I don't know. I just saw the ad and thought I would share. Going by factory dates, you would be correct. But, this truck is in Texas and chances are the motor was swapped out in the last 50 years. I see some non-stock items on the truck, like the mirrors. Either way, I have seen people selling the doors and fenders of this type truck for more than he's asking.
