D5TZ1020000E =

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has ONE = 606-787-5293.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has TWO = 800-543-4959.

No Ford Dealer, no other obsolete part vendor has any.

No one has D5TZ9920000B or D5TZ9920000C, either.
---------------------------------------------------
CAVEAT EMPTOR = Let the buyer beware! Buy at your own risk, because these kits are prolly no good.

What happens is: Within a few years, the adhesive dries out, so the backing can no longer be peeled off the stripe....without the stripe coming along with it!

Hey, I noticed, ya never post the price info, is that not available?
If parts are obsolete, sometimes the original MSRP and dealer net cost are listed on the Ford dealer parts locator...and if so, I list the info, but...

Most of the time, there are no prices available...cuz many of these parts have been obsolete for decades, and...

The bottom line is: Since the parts are obsolete, y'all are at the mercy of the Ford Dealers, obsolete parts vendors who have set their own prices.

Depending on who it is, some obsolete parts may be purchased at below dealer net, some at dealer net, some may be purchased between dealer net and MSRP, some may be MSRP plus!

There are no set prices on obsolete parts, no law that says they have to be sold at a certain price. It all depends on who has them...the rarity factor, and etc.

btw: Since the parts are obsolete, the dealers can no longer return them to FoMoCo, so...are STUCK with them. Usually in this situation, the parts can be bought below MSRP.

But some dealers are price gougers, so...if you really wanna know...call the sources and ask.

Newbe...I looked at the PDF's and none look like mine???

I'm enclosing a couple of pics of my truck, I hope I'm just blind. I saw on one of the trucks above the same design. I've started contacting some decal companies to reproduce it, but am in the early stages. If I can find a set through here it would sure be easier....Thanks Mark

It looks like you have the TYPE 12 Explorer stripes.
Is your truck a '78 or '79?
The following is for the '79. Let my know if it's a '78.
For units built at other than Michigan truck plant.
Cab set, regular cab. tangerine & gold D9TZ-1020000-DE
Bed set, 8' bed w/o aux. fuel tangerine & gold D9TZ-9920000-A
It's hard to tell which year from the pictures. The stripes between '78 & '79 are similar and color variation is hard to tell from picture.
If you have a '78 these are the p/n's:
Type 11 stripe Chamois/Oange Regular cab D8TZ-1320000-AT Green Sales has 2
8' bed Chamois/Orange D8TZ-9920000-BT Green Sales has NONE.
The following are for a '79
Green Sales (513) 731-3304 has 8 of the cab sets and 1 of the bed sets.
A word of caution, these stripe sets have a shelf life.
You might end up using these as paterns for new stripes.
Another option is to have them painted on.

Nice pictures. Does anyone know if these bed rails were available as an option for 1978?

Thank you for the information. The truck is a 1978.

again for those not reading Bill's post

Any original striping kit you buy today is worthless.

My suggestion: Take a photo of old ones with measurements or if you still have the stripes on your truck, go to a sign shop and have them reproduce the stripes in vinyl.

Buying old striping kits is waste of money

Just by looking at them I can tell they are from 78.

The 79's are completely different

Hot weather, humidity causes the adhesive to dry out. Then...when you attempt to peel off the backing, the stripe comes along with it! I kid you not.

It does not take this too long to occur, either.

D8TZ1320000AT .. Stripe Kit ~ Consists of hood, fender, door and back panel / Obsolete

MANDERBACH FORD in Temple PA has ONE = 610-929-3659.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has TWO = 800-543-4959.

No other Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
-----------------------------------------------------
D8TZ9920000BT .. Stripe Kit-Regular Cab ~ 8' Styleside Bed / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

CAVEAT EMPTOR = BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK! OBSOLETE PARTS ARE NOT RETURNABLE.

Thanks Mike and NumbersDummy, I'm going to take your advice and have a set made up from the set on the truck. The only problem i have is finding the tailgate design as it is a new tailgate. Would either of you have stored somewhere a picture?
Thanks again for your help,
Mark

The Explorer stripes didn't include anything on the tailgate.
The only thing that should be on the tail gate is FORD painted in a contrasting color.

Not originally you couldn't. Ford first offered the appliques for the 1980's trucks.

Some repro parts sellers are offering them for 1973/79's, but I didn't see anything listed in DC's current 1967/79 truck catalog.
