It wasn't meant to be perfect, just made to look better. Rolled on 3 coats of Rustoleum / mineral spirits at a 75/25 ratio. Took 3 days from start to finish. Wasn't going to spend a lot of time or money on making it look better. Those patches will hold indefinetly and I certainly won't have to worry about rust again with this paint.

Not too long ago, I painted my civic, and my buddy painted his maverick with rustoleum. We sprayed vs rolled though. Just thinned it out with acetone. It looks great for the price! I will try to get a pic of the civic. Even if it only lasts a year or two, its still a great cheap way to make a huge improvement.

Don't knock the Rustoleum paint jobs. I bought a Mark VIII cheap off craigslist many moons ago, did some body work and repainted it with Rustoleum and a Harbor Freight paint gun in my garage. Took a little extra effort with wet-sanding to get the finish the way that I wanted, but in the end the car turned out great, and was still bright and shiny when I sold it a year and a half later, having survived two Phoenix summers.
I've got a '66 Wagoneer I've been slowly putting back together that I intend to paint with Rustoleum this winter, but for an entirely different reason. Not only is it cheap and I won't care that it gets scratched off-road, but if I need to really touch up an area I'm pretty confident that I can just rattlecan it and call it good.

Yea, my prep work wasn't the greatest. But, the paint sticks and it's still much better than before. To be honest though, it's really a 4 foot paint job. Stand back 4 feet and it looks great. Get up close, you can see the orange peel and imperfections. Aw well though, didn't spend much time on it, 3 days. All I was giving this job.

The fumes really weren't that bad. I would open and close the doors every so often to air it out since it wasn't that windy. Fumes would have been a whole lot worse if I'd of sprayed it on.
