Just wanted to bring this back up, I just called Mike to order my tuner, he is VERY knowledgeable, I am used to knowing more about vehicles than the people selling the parts to me, but Mike really impressed me with his knowledge! I am just waiting for my tuner to come in the mail so I can read my strategy code, and then he will email me my custom tunes..
I decided on:
87 Economy
87 Performance/Towing
91 Performance/Towing

Cant wait

I received my "tunes" today. Ran down the hwy. both in and out of tow haul. Installed Mikes custom 87 performance tow tune then did it again. The front came up like I was doing a wheelie. WOW!!

Thanks for getting me those tunes so quick Mike!!

All I can say is WOW.. The 35x12.50 mud tire sure leaves nice burn out marks haha

I currently am running the 87 performance tune, and will probably try out the 91 performance tune next time I need to fill up with gas..

The thing that stands out in my mind is when talking to Mike on the phone he mentioned that its going to be VERY easy to burn out at stop lights and I will need to watch that the pedal is so much more responsive, he was NOT kidding, first stop sign I spun the tires haha

I've had my tuner for a while now and I am thoroughly impressed! Here's the highlights on my 2000 F250 Crew Cab 4X4 5-speed V10 using the 87 octane Performance/Tow tune from Mike:

Two-lane highway @ 55MPH went from 13.6 MPG to 16.1 MPG

Freeway @ 65MPH went from 12.6 to 14.9 MPG

Towing mileage @ 55MPH went from 8.5MPG to 9.5MPG

And POWER has increased across the board!

I take it you got a truck that the SCT won't work with?

After wanting one for the last couple of years, I finally ordered a tuner from 5-Star this weekend. Can't wait 'till I can plug it in and see what this old truck can really do.

dirtcrazy is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Just finished loading the 87 Performance in my truck. Holy cats, that thing flies! Punch the throttle in second gear after crossing the apex of the corner and hang on! Ok, back to seriousness...I installed the Volant CAI and went for a drive - throttle response was mushy on tip-in, but pulled nicely once it was above 1000 RPM and over 1/3rd throttle. Took it out on the highway to let the ECU figure out the new airflow, but didn't make much difference with initial tip-in. Then, I loaded the 87 Performance tune from Mike. Let the truck warm back up and went for a test drive - No more mushy tip-in and no more "uh.......I'm not sure about this" feeling in the mid RPM range. Solid pull all the way to red line!
Can't wait to go haulin'!

Thanks Mike!

Ted

I have a 2002 E450, V10, 27” BigFoot motor home with a Banks Power Pack, headers and intake that I would like to add Mikes tuner. I would also like to have a ScanGage on while going down the road to monitor RPM and Trans. Temps. Will both of this items work in tandem or Just one at a time,…is the 5 star tuner always installed in the OBDI port,…if so, how can I also run the scan gage ??? What tunes would be recommended for my situation ??
Thanks
