I have been using Rotella ELC for quite some time now. It is avialable at Tractor Supply locally to me, and is fairly priced. Just be sure if it is the concentrate (which is what I buy) that you do 50/50 mix with distilled water.

My local Oreilly's started carrying ELC for big trucks recently. I am in a small town, so you might have good luck where you are. It is this stuff, and I have been using it for several years now:

I don't know about you, but that would most likely be the life of my engine unless it is contaminated somehow, again like Mike said.

"So how long between changes of what-ever flavor of ELC you're running?"

Just a note. Be sure that you get the "EC-1" rated ELC. They are two different anamals. They are both extended life coolants, however the "plain" ELC still requires the additives that standard coolants require, where the EC-1 does not. I don't recall if the EC-1 rating is a CAT standard or not but the jug should indicate something of that sort.
Also be sure to use the concentrate to insure the proper mix with the distilled water as there will be a fair amount left in the block after flushing. (So I am told at least)

Didn't say forever. I said the life of the engine. For most of us, that will be well under the 750,000 - 1,000,000 miles the stuff is rated for.

For mere mortals like our 7.3s its the time limits not the miles. The Delo is rated for 8 years with the extender added at the 4 year point.
It does seem the Rotella is readily available and far better than the green stuff in the truck now so I guess I will drive out to Tractor Supply and pick up 4 bottles. The Delo seems to have become unubtainium which is odd for a Chevron product. Perhaps it is being reformulated or this formulation is being removed from the market.

I trust it that long, but only because the big rigs run it that long without problems. So I should be golden with the duty mine sees.

Isn't that the "Win a race on Sunday, sell a car on Monday" mentality? Are the big rigs designed to run whatever they do and is it different from what we are designed to do? IOW, can we take advantage of that or are we like the guy that buys a car because it has "race technology", which it may but may not be relevant to a street car?
